Are you people aware of the negative impact that takes place due to the use of Arsenic? Have a look at short term and long term health effects caused by arsenic on our body. Today, The Swift Life talk about the health effects of arsenic.

There are both short-term and long-term effects to arsenic exposure. Both cause extreme side effects in the human body.

Short-term Health Effects of Arsenic:

Simply breathing in arsenic can cause a sore throat and irritate your lungs.

Swallowing high levels of arsenic can cause things like:

  • Stomachache
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Muscle weakness
  • Pins and needles in your hands and feet
  • Rashes
  • Bruises

Exposure to high amounts of arsenic can be fatal. So visit a doctor if you experience any of these symptoms… Just in case.

Long-term Health Effects of Arsenic:

If exposed to even a small amount of arsenic over a large amount of time you will start to experience certain symptoms as well. Some common symptoms are:

  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Liver and kidney damage
  • Shortage of red and white blood cells, which can lead to increased risk of infections

Keep in mind that the environment you’re working in can be exposing you to arsenic and you might not even know it. If you’re working in an industrial or agriculture position, talk to your supervisor to make sure they’re taking the right precautions.

If you seriously think you’ve been exposed to arsenic, short or long-term, head to your doctor for a urine test, which is the most reliable way to detect arsenic exposure! Keep in mind when starting a new job that the environment you’re working in is up to standard. If you feel unsafe, always question it, because even if you feel fine now, down the road might be a different story.
