The Swift Life

Feature Friday: Swift Green Filters

Shameless self-promoting plug: We decided to feature our parent company Swift Green Filters this week, because what better way to reduce harmful impurities in your water than by using a filter? And what if that filter just happens to be recyclable and made from sustainable materials? We sat down with our founder, Parkash Suri, and got him to tell us a little more about his vision for Swift Green Filters, and what direction this innovative company is heading.

Q: How was Swift Green Filters started?

Swift Green Filters started as a thought, a thought that took a lot of research and planning. Research and development began over 10 years ago!  We wanted to change the way people use refrigerator water filters, and we wanted to do it while reducing our carbon footprint. Our goal was to become the first company in the water filtration industry to establish an environmentally friendly water filter.

Q: What can SGF currently remove from your water?

Our filters are able to remove:

  • Chlorine
  • Chloramine
  • Endocrine Disrupters
  • Pharmaceutical Drugs
  • Pesticide
  • Disinfection By-Products

Our filters improve overall taste of the water you’re drinking!

Q: What makes SGF different from other leading filter companies?

We believe that sustainability should be at the forefront of every business model. We only use coconut carbon instead of conventional carbon, making our product sustainable while also reducing our carbon footprint. And our products are recyclable! When you’re done with your filter you can send it back to us and we will recycle it for you. What also makes us different than leading OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) is that all of our refrigerator filters are almost half the cost of OEM filters.

Q: What is the average price for a SGF filter?

The average price of a Swift Green Filter is significantly less than what an OEM will charge you for the same filter. It’s difficult to make generalizations as each filter varies and is priced differently but let me give you an example. Our SGF DSB30 (which is for a Samsung fridge) goes for less than $40.00 online. A quick Amazon search just showed that the exact same filter goes for about $60.00 and upwards depending on the brand.

Q: Which refrigerators are SGF filters compatible with?

All major models.

Q: What does SGF want to accomplish within the next 5 years? What are your main goals?

Clean, safe water is a human right. We plan to be able to provide affordable filtration for all walks of life. Whether you live in a Manhattan loft or in the rural Ecuadorian countryside we want to provide clean water to everyone worldwide. We plan on being a household name. When you think of water, you think of Swift. That’s what we want. This year we launched a commercial filter line as well. We want to change the way businesses think about filtration too.
